RE: Cracks in fiberglass roof

For a quick fix to stop the leak, CampingWorld sells ProRV Sealant in a can that can be applied with a paint brush. This stuff gets down in the crack and creates a good seal. It might only last a year or two. I have used it for a leak in our fiberglass roof.
Good Luck!

Grey Tank Open or Closed

I apologize in advance as I am sure that this has been discussed often. Do you keep your gray tank open or closed when hooked up to a sewer? I know all the reasons why to keep your black closed. About 4 years ago we were camping at the beach and many roaches came out of a nearby manhole cover. Not the sewer but I am sure that they can make it in to your RV through the sewer hose. 40 gallon tanks do not hold a family of showers, especially with teens. Do you just keep dumping?
Thanks!

RE: cordless drill and manual slide

We had a TT with a manual slide. If the socket route does not work you can buy an extra crank, cut it at the bottom of the straight shaft. Then file some flat edges so it holds in your drill. The dealer mechanic made one of these for us and it worked great. Be sure not to push the slide out too fast, you could damage the track.
Enjoy the camping season!

RE: cleaning carpet

You might want to use a dry cleaning type product such as Capture that is available at Lowes or Oreck stores carry their branded version. It is simple to use and it does a good job. Just did ours last week. It comes with a spray that you mist on to the rug then a damp powder material that you sprinkle on the rug and use a stiff brush to rub it into the carpet. In about 45 mins you can vacuum the dried powder up. Nice scent, clean carpets with no wetness. Also, Oreck has a coupon on their web site that offers a one day free rental for a power brush that is easy to use with this type of cleaning.
Good luck!

RE: Pirateland WiFi Update?

We were just there about 3 weeks ago. WIFI was fine. We were about 5 spots from the beach. The charge was about $9.95 per day. As mentioned earlier, they have different connections based on what router you are near. During the summer I am going to guess that there might be a slowdown due to heavy usage. If you have a wilreless card from one of the cell companies they work well in MB. Cingular appears to have their 3G broadband service there.

RE: NC to Disney World Via I-95

We have used the KOA at Richmond Hill. From Charlotte it was just about the middle point of the trip. This is not a bad CG with some pull through sites. Good for an overnight stop. Easy access off of I-95.

Strange Noise While Camping

I am camping and today developed a strange noise while plugged into shore power. About every 20- 30 minutes I hear a click, then a short hum then a click again. I tried to isolate the issue with no luck. It almost sounds like it is coming from below the bathroom. The A/C's are off. I tried both electric and propane for the fridge and it did not make a difference. The water pump is off but I am wondering if it is having an issue.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks!

RE: Computer Problems

Charles,
There are som trojans that evan the best protection suites are not catching and the best cleaners can't clean. The earlier response of getting an external drive is the best insurance. It is best to do a backup every day of your critical files. If you get a trojan that takes over your sytem at least you have a backup. Don't backup during the attack or you will just infect your external drive.
I recnetly had an issue with an trojan infection called Data Defender. Very bad. It removed my control panel so that I could not remove the trojan or access my recovery files. It also turned my screen a light blue.
Best of luck!

RE: Which game system for 10 year old?

A Wii is a good choice for younger kids. Teens like it too. When selecting a game console consider the games that your child will like to play. They all appear to have some games that overlap in tile but then each brand has a segment that they target. The PS3 if you buy the right version can also play most of the older PS2 games. There are a ton of titles for this platform. Still, the Wii has some fun activity based titles that everyone should enjoy.

RE: What's a good RV park in the Myrtle Beach area?

DiverJim55,
Everyone has their favorite in the MB area. Some of the more popular are OceanLakes, PirateLand, Lakewood, and MB Travel Park. As mentioned in the earlier post there are also a couple of state parks and a KOA that is not on the beach.
We have stayed at Lakewood, MB Travel Park, OceanLakes, and Pirateland. We enjoy them all but the kids always like OceanLakes. Their web address is: www.oceanlakes.com
Take a look at www.rvparkreviews.com and select the Myrtle Beach area. Great reviews on all of them.

RE: Voip. How? With who? Etc.

Dennis,
As mentioned in the earlier post, you need a very good broadband connection for VOIP to work. I have a Vonage account, not as my main line but just as second for my office. I am using their USB phone adapter that plugs in your computer and does not require a modem so you have great portability with it. The software with it allows you to make calls by typing the phone number on your computer keyboard.
Again, you will need a strong connection.
I too would look at a cell phone service that you can pay as you go.
Have a great trip.

Transmission Troubles

Hello All!
About a month ago I typed a post regarding my transmission as it was just starting to act up. I received some good advice however, after several repairs, the problem is only partially fixed. I am looking for any other input or experiences that might be helpful.
Our MH is a 99 Monaco on a Ford platform with 26K miles on it. The problem is that the trans is shifting very hard during acceleration. The catch is that if I shut the engine off at a red light and restart, everything is then fine. Here is what has been done so far by several mechanics that have been involved with this repair.
1) Unit fully inspected with pan down, new filter and fluid
2) Two sensors had failure codes so they were replaced
3) The ignition module was replaced
4) The wiring in the shifter was replaced (overdrive was not working) Now my overdrive works.
There are no codes for the engine or trans at this point. Unit is running great other than the hard shift and again that is corrected with a restart. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

RE: Charlotte, NC Campgrounds

Hi Terry!
You have a few choices depending on what you would like to do.
Carowinds: www.carowinds.com Large pull throughs with 50amp. Attached to the amusement park. Right off of I-77
Fleetwood RV park. Next to Lowes Motor Speedway. www.lowesmotorspeedway.com go to the camping section. Large sites. More of a race event cg but does have pull through sites but those do not have cable tv. Right off of I-85. Large outlet mall, many places to eat.
McDowell Nature Preserve. Near Carowinds. Has a couple of pull throughs that can accommodate your rig. However, no sewer but does have 50 amp. Inexpensive at under $20 per night. It is a county park.
Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA. Off of I-77. Mixed reviews. Not bad for a stop over or "home base" type of visit.
High Rock Lake CG in Lexington. About 80 miles N of Charlotte but nice facilities on lake with fishing pier and boat rental.
Hope that this helps. Visit www.rvparkreviews.com and look at Charlotte, Fort Mill (South Carolina), Concord NC, Lexington, NC
Have a safe trip.

RE: Ashville East Koa

Hi AP!
We have stayed there. You can get an idea about it on www.rvparkreviews.com.
It is an ok place. Some sites are tight. There is a nice stream running throught the middle of the CG. They have a small lake that you can rent paddle boats. Good location for touring the area.
Enjoy your trip.
